DuPage Derby Dames go to K-Town Shakedown 2016!

April 29 – May 2, 2016
Wings Event Center
3600 Vanrick Drive
Kalamazoo, MI 49001
Hosted by the Killamazoo Derby Darlins

This spring, the Dames are sending A and B teams, Uproar and Onslaught, to K-Town Shakedown 2016, a competitive tournament hosted by the Killamazoo Derby Darlins. K-Town Shakedown, has the distinction of being one of the first of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA)’s Recognized Tournaments. Attending K-Town Shakedown will take the league leaps and bounds closer to achieving our 2016 goals: the Dames are thrilled to be able to build our identity within WFTDA by playing new teams and developing new friendly rivalries, and our team tacticians will come away from the weekend with exciting new techniques and strategies to sharpen play. The tourney also gives our lion-hearted ladies a chance to battle their way up in the WFTDA rankings. This could even be the first step toward making Division 2 playoffs; currently ranked #79 of 369 WFTDA member leagues, the Dames only have 20 steps to climb!

So how can you, our beloved fans, help out? The Dames would greatly appreciate any donations to help fund our trip to K-Town Shakedown 2016. Your generous gift will support our travel and board, but when you give, you’re giving much more than that. You’re giving these women a chance to prove themselves on the track—to the fans and to themselves. You’re giving them a way to model teamwork, leadership, and good sportsmanship to girls and women across the Midwest. You’re giving them a time and place to forge friendly connections and supportive partnerships with other skaters, officials, and fans. You’re giving the gift of derby: the gift of strength, joy, and determination. You can’t put a price on that (but you CAN deduct it from your taxes, since the Dames are a 501(c)(3) organization)!

The DuPage Derby Dames are grateful for your generosity. We sincerely hope that doing good makes you feel as good as we feel when we think of our wonderful fan base. We look forward to seeing all of you at K-Town Shakedown 2016 on April 29! Oh Hot Dame!
