Once you get a taste of this gal, you’ll be wishing she came around only ONCE a year!
Why this derby name and number?
My number is 28 because it's the day I was born (yay me!).
I started out as “HollyWhooped” (as in Hollywood). After a bad bone break & radial nerve damage in my right arm doing some tricks at a skate park, I returned to the flat track reborn with a new derby name my first wife (Bambi) helped me come up with: Hollydaze (Hol-i-dayz).
What position(s) do you play?
I am primarily a jammer but I pivot and block as well. I like being diverse in derby and being a better ASSet! Plus, if I’m having a rotten jam, it helps to go out as a blocker and hit to reset my body and mind.
How long have you been playing derby?
About 3 years.
Who is your derby wife?
I have 2 wives and they’re both really pretty: Bambi L. Zebub and SMAC!
Favorite song(s) to skate to?
Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Heads Will Roll”
The Strokes “Reptilia”
The Ettes “Crown of Age”
How did you get into Derby?
I got into roller derby with a suggestion from my sister. I have loved to roller skate since I was a lil’ tyke around 4 years old. I loved going fast! Wheels on my feet and whooshing breezes past my ears! I didn’t grow out of the roller skating phase even when roller rinks were no longer considered a “happening” place to be amongst peers. My sister suggested I try roller derby as a “cool” alternative to open skate nights. I searched local teams online & found my derby home at the DuPage Derby Dames.
Weapon of choice?
Toe stops are excellent for hopping out of a bad situation!
Camping, hiking, yoga, writing, reading
Words of Advice?
NEVER give up!
If you weren't playing roller derby what would you be doing?
I’m big on the nature and zen stuff, so probably hiking & yoga.

Any last words?
No matter where life takes me, the Dames will always have a very big piece of my heart. They are wonderful human beings who inspire and empower one another with competitive and positive attitudes. BUTT LIFE for life!
